Hi babes! I’m Alicia. I’m the writer of this blog. I’m a sophomore at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. I am an English major. Now, I don’t entirely know what I am going to do with that degree, but I will figure it out. I’m working on writing my first novel right now, and I hope to get published soon after I have it finished! I would honestly love to write books for the rest of my life, whether it be publishing my journals or writing a full length novel. But let’s be realistic here: I will probably work for an editorial publication and write my books on the side.
I transferred to LMU from the University of La Verne, which is about 35-40 minutes from Downtown Los Angeles. I transferred because I knew I wanted to be in a bigger school, closer to a big city. I have gotten involved quite a bit on campus, and the transition has been fairly easy (to my surprise!)
I am a copy editor for the award winning newspaper on campus, the Loyolan. Basically, I just correct grammar, sentence flow, fact check and format before the articles go out for publishing. It is an extremely rewarding job, and fun too! I work long hours during the week and a short shift on the weekend, which keeps me very busy. I also contribute to MyTrendingStories, which is a blogging platform based out of New York City.
Just recently, I have become a brand representative for the New York City based beauty brand, Glossier. You can shop some of my favorite products and get a discount when you order through my rep link (there should be one in my dropdown menu). Was this a shameless plug? Yeah.
I started MeninaMagazine because I wanted something I could use my creativity on. I have always loved taking photos… and editing them. And I obviously enjoy writing enough. A blog is the perfect combination of the three, and it allows me to create whatever content I choose. I also explore my creative editing side through my YouTube channel, so feel free to go watch my videos too!
I love art, culture, music, fashion, and food. Los Angeles is the perfect place to explore all of those. I moved here for college because I honestly love Los Angeles. I have been in love with it since I was little. I love the city, I love the neighborhoods, I love all the cool spots and places to go. Most of my blog posts do come from spots in Los Angeles. But sometimes, they come from the Bay Area, since I’m from a small town just North of San Francisco.
Keep up with my adventures!
