The Power of Pink

Okay, I know what you’re thinking. Is this girl really talking about this brand again? And yeah, I’m coming at you with another Glossier post. I am talking about them again.

The first thing that caught my eye was Glossier’s pink packaging, let’s be honest. But what made me fall in love with the brand was how they combine skincare and makeup. Each product is so versatile and easy to use, so there’s something for everyone (and it looks good on the shelf, too!) Each product is gentle and good for your skin.

Generation G in Like and Leo.

My favorite product (it is really hard to pick just one) are the Generation G matte lippies. These matte lipsticks are super nourishing and are more of a balm than a lipstick. They go on gently and create a sheer color that resembles a popsicle stain. ‘Like’ and ‘Cake’ are my go-to natural everyday colors.

My second favorite product is the Boy Brow. The Boy Brow actually introduced me to Glossier about two years ago when I bought the product for me and my sister. I have been hooked ever since. Today, Glossier announced that the Boy Brow is now available in Clear. So, in addition to Blonde, Brown, and Black, the Boy Brow now comes in Clear! This is exciting news considering I have always debated between whether brown or black fits my natural brow color better. I end up buying both because a girl can never have too many options.

I was recently contacted by Kelly Mittendorf to become part of the Glossier Rep Program. Of course I said yes. I was waiting for the perfect moment to announce this on my blog, and with the launch of the new Boy Brow option, the moment is here. I have linked my Rep page on Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter, but in case you don’t follow me on those I have linked it here too.

Peek at my YouTube to see how I use the Boy Brow and other Glossier products! In the meantime, check out my Rep page to shop my favorite products, and get 20% off your first order and free shipping on any order over $30!

Why I Started YouTube…

I binge watch YouTubers like Arden Rose,  TrueBeutie and Joellen Lu way too often than I should. But watching each of their videos really made me inspired to start making my own videos. I have always had a passion for filmography/photography and video editing, and a YouTube is the perfect chance to film and edit while also being able to talk about products, clothes and my life in general.

I have been talking about starting my own YouTube, and I have bounced this idea off of some of my closest friends for a really long time.. .probably annoying each of them a lot. But I finally decided to do it, with the help of my mom (a new camera was one of my birthday presents).

It was my 20th birthday almost a week ago, and I filmed a quick “Get Ready With Me” before my little birthday dinner my family surprised me with. I posted it two days ago and I have almost 200 views on it, which I did not expect at all. I was thinking more like 50 views for the whole week. So, it is safe to say I’m pretty excited.

It will be time consuming to film because I do have schoolwork, my job at the newspaper and I do write for my blog and MyTrendingStories, but I think it will be both rewarding and exciting to see where this will take me. I am hoping to get out a new video biweekly, if not weekly (we’ll see!)

Click here to go check out my video! No pressure though.

Glossier Gal

The first time I bought a product from Glossier was about two years ago. I was growing out my naturally bushy brows and I came across the Boy Brow. I wanted a product that kept my big brows in place, but also help them look natural. The Boy Brow did just that. From then on, I was hooked on Glossier. I am the proud owner of almost every Glossier product there is. From the Boy Brow to the Skin Tint to their terry cloth headband, I am addicted.

As I do struggle with acne prone skin and constant break outs, Glossier’s products help my skin, especially the Perfecting Skin Tint (which also improves my constant hyper pigmentation). Glossier is 100% cruelty free. And if that is not enough to sell you on the brand, their products are also great for your skin. They put “skin first,” which really aligns with my own view of beauty. I love Glossier because it really celebrates self-love. The brand’s mission is to help their customers see that their own beauty is the most beautiful thing there is. Their products have really transformed how I see beauty products, and even my own beauty.

Each order comes in a cute Glossier Pink pouch, which would not be complete without their cute little stickers. If you babes want to test some Glossier products, here’s a link that will get you 20% off your first order (at checkout): http://bff.glossier.com/ekJPl

Teeny Little Beauty Buys

I have never been one to cave in and splurge on beauty products. Clothing and shoes? Yeah, I cave all the time. I have always bought drugstore makeup and drugstore skincare. But I have begun to cave… on a lot of products.

I am going to be explicitly honest right now. I have had awful acne since I was 11. I knew it was not strictly hormonal, considering it was a constant. They were red, they were deep, and they never went away. I tried so many different remedies, from antibiotics to natural homeopathic acne treatments. And to no avail. Nothing that I was doing really worked. However, just within the last year, my doctor recommended going on the pill for my acne. At this point, I wanted my acne gone. I was 19 and in college. So, I went on the pill. I was amazed. It cleared up my skin almost immediately. So, even though I do not struggle with cystic acne like I once did, I still get those pesky breakouts! My growth from drugstore skincare to splurging was very gradual. I used to buy Neutrogena skin care products religiously, and I still have a few favorites. Then I started solely purchasing skincare from Burt’s Bees. Both brands are available at most drugstores, and range anywhere from $6 to $16.

Mario Badescu Skincare

I often heard about Mario Badescu products from beauty blogs. A few months ago, I saw it at Ulta. I splurged. I really splurged. I have become so addicted to this brand that I have every single product. I wish I was kidding about how obsessed I am. Mario Badescu skincare products are not the destroyers of cystic acne, but they truly do help in subsiding the amount of new acne coming in. If you struggle with cystic acne like I did, the one product I really recommend is the drying lotion. It is honestly a life saver. Whenever I had a really big under-the-skin pimple (which was all the time), the drying lotion helped it disappear the next day. These products range from $7 to $30, but it is so worth it. Your skin feels so clean and refreshed after using each product.

Perfume from UO

I generally am not too obsessed with fragrances. I like smelling good, obviously. But I do not usually buy perfume too often. I have had the same perfume for a really long time, and I received it as a gift. I bought this Macaron Rosé Parfum from Urban Outfitters for $20.  Which is not too bad for a perfume. It smells really good. The name allures the idea that it smells really sweet-maybe even sickly so. But it is actually very subtle and warm. I wear it almost everyday!

Glossier Balm Dotcom and Boy Brow

Alright, I am quite obsessed with Glossier. From the packaging to the products, it is the best beauty brand. I used the Balm Dotcom (12 dollars) for all around moisturizing. Whether that be lips or skin. It is so universal and so skin friendly. The Boy Brow is beyond amazing. And for $16… it should be. It comes in three shades: blond, brown, and black. I bought myself and my sister a Boy Brow because we both have naturally thick brows that do not necessarily need a full brow pomade every single day. The Boy Brow is a customer favorite, and for good reason. It keeps your brows in place throughout the day, and helps you achieve a natural brow. It is also good for your brows! It has collagen that helps thicken and strengthen hair fibers.

I do not splurge on all my beauty products. I think there are drugstore products that are of equal or better quality to high end products. I still shop at Target (way too often), and I still use mostly drugstore brand beauty products. Very rarely do I splurge on high end products because the drugstore equivalent is just as good, plus it is probably cheaper. It is important to try, and experiment, with different products until you find what you really love!

Oh, the Colors!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I love makeup. I used to be a foundation, blush, and mascara only kinda gal. But recently I have really explored the artistry that is makeup. With the help of some of the best (and underrated) beauty bloggers, an addiction has officially set in.

Surprising to some, most my favorite beauty products happen to be drugstore brands. I actually think some drugstore brands are better than the more expensive brands (not to say that I don’t love my Anastasia Beverly Hills contour and glow kit).

I purchased the e.l.f. Essential Little Black Beauty Book in the Warm Edition. Oh, and it was only 10 dollars. I used it today to highlight my eyes. The shadow colors are not as pigmented as my Morphe palette, but these shadows are definitely a good starter if you are not too eyeshadow savy.

The palette also comes with two brushes. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of these brushes because they are so soft and pick up product really well.
